Balanganson
Balanganson
Balaganson, set up in 2000 by percussionist Tim Dodd, is a sweet but hard-hitting 4 to 7 piece traditional Afro-Cuban Son band working in the style of the popular “Buena Vista Social Club”.
The band features the sensual but driving characteristic sound of the Cuban tres guitar along with congas, timbale and bass and with larger line ups with that of the trumpet and violin.
Balanganson is made up of musicians from Cuba, Columbia and the UK imbuing the music with great authenticity.
Balaganson embrace the essence of traditional Cuban son music, their performance is lively, interactive and contagious and is ideal for "full-on" venues or private functions/party performances or if necessary, a more restrained background music "vibe" for cocktail parties or dinner functions.
Balaganson has held residencies in the past at the fashionable “Momo’s” Venue bar and Restaurant, the once popular venue “Cargo” in Shoreditch, London, as well as performing for private clients and corporate events.
Balanganson can perform as a 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 piece band.
